OPPO and DSI: Turning Matchday Culture into Meaningful Brand Moments

Dentsu Sports International Embeds OPPO Phones into Matchday Culture. Now in its fourth UEFA Champions League Final as the competition’s first Chinese smartphone partner, OPPO continues to strengthen its presence on football’s biggest stage by turning technological innovation into deeper fan connection.

As OPPO’s global lead creative and rights management partner for the UEFA Champions League, Dentsu Sports International (DSI) worked together with dentsu Creative to tap into the culture, humor, and rituals shared by football’s most passionate supporters.

Three Films

1. Never Miss A Moment

The first film explores a familiar heartbreak for football supporters: leaving the stadium early after believing a match is lost, only to miss an unforgettable comeback. The story follows a fan who continues witnessing his team’s comeback through OPPO’s telephoto lens, even after leaving the stands.

2. Stay Away From Football

The second plays on football fans’ famously contradictory relationship with the game. A doctor sternly advises an injured supporter to “stay away from football”, only for the fan to interpret this literally by sitting in the further seat inside the stadium. OPPO’s telephoto technology instantly brings the action closer. Before a final twist reveals that even the doctor is a passionate supporter himself.

3. Which Way's The Keeper Going?

The final instalment focuses on football’s increasingly data-driven culture, where fans obsess over tactical details and marginal gains. During a tense penalty shootout, a supporter repeatedly predicts the goalkeeper’s diving direction with uncanny accuracy. The reveal? OPPO’s telephoto lens captured the goalkeeper’s penalty notes hidden on his water bottle, proving that in modern football, no detail goes unnoticed.

Together, the three films showcase different slices of football fandom while positioning OPPO’s telephoto capabilities organically within authentic matchday behaviour. By embedding the Find X9 Ultra and Matchday Phone positioning into real fan culture, the campaign moved naturally from product functionality into emotional relevance.

Beyond Creatives

Beyond the creative campaign itself, DSI provided comprehensive rights management support throughout the UEFA Champions League Final in Budapest. From the OPPO fan activation at Heroes’ Square and the OPPO hospitality space inside Puskás Aréna, to VIP guest experiences and on-ground coordination, DSI ensured seamless execution across the brand’s full tournament presence.

By leading both creative development and rights management, DSI was able to carefully balance creative ambition with the complex boundaries of one of the world’s most premium sports properties.
